keith, i use reel grease, the last stuff that i bought was called red hot or something like that. the reason that i use grease is due to the very high temps 90 to 100 degree heat that my reels are subjected to. and hopefully if next weeks trip is as active as last weeks trip they will be subjected to alot of high speed reeling! i used to use penn reel grease and it worked fine. and i used lubriplate for years and it worked good also. as for the saltwater i just sprinkle a little water on them to keep the salt spray from drying on them. too many folks rinse their reels off with high pressure water and invade their reels with water. when i am talking about high pressure water i am not talking about a high pressure washer, but the use of spray nozzle.

when i die bury me deep, put at bucket of bait at my feet, put a rod and reel in my hand and i will fish my way to the promised land !!!! remember we did not inherit these resources from our parents, we are merely borrowing them from our children

I wipe my reels down with a very damp cloth at the end of every fishing day and re-oil the worm gear. I break them down and re-grease and oil them when they tell me they need it. I use a synthetic reel oil and regular reel grease.

Last year when I brought my baitcasters to Professional for cleaning/re-lub, I asked what did they use and was told they use ONLY "Breakfree' oil.
